1. Standard we target

We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That includes:

  • Keyboard navigation for all interactive controls.
  • Sufficient color contrast (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
  • Semantic HTML with appropriate ARIA where native semantics fall short.
  • Alt text on photos and icons, and descriptive labels on form fields.
  • Respect for the operating-system reduce-motion preference (we disable marquees and scroll-reveal animations when it's set).
  • Resizable text up to 200% without loss of content or function.
  • A consistent layout and navigation across pages.

2. Known gaps

We're a small team and the platform is evolving. Known accessibility gaps we're working on:

  • Map-based search relies on Leaflet's default keyboard interaction, which is partial. The list view is a fully accessible alternative for the same data.
  • PDF watermarking adds visual elements to downloaded documents that may interact poorly with some screen readers. The underlying text content of the PDF is unmodified.

3. Accommodations & feedback

If any feature on Octaned creates a barrier for you, or if you'd like content delivered in an alternative format, email accessibility@octaned.us. Please describe the barrier, the page or feature affected, and the assistive technology you use. We respond within 5 business days.

4. Compliance scope

This statement covers octaned.us and its subdomains. Embedded third-party content (such as our payment processor's checkout pages) is governed by that provider's accessibility statement.

5. Updates

We'll revise this page as the product evolves. Material changes are dated above.
